On January 1998 started No Doubt working the followeup from Tragic Kingdom. With no idea that the process would take a length of 2 full years.

In the first period No Doubt didn`t appeared in the media for a while. In September 1998, Gwen made an apperance on MTV Video Music Awards with an amazing blue hair collour. This took somehow the styles of stars out of the grunge time.

Gwen Stefani also did lots of collaborations with other stars.

Early 1999 released an single for a soundtrack from the movie Go called New. This ended later on No Doubt`s Fourth album. In the fall of 1999 tought No Doubt finished their record, but shorty after they pull everything back to fix the sound balance of that recorded.

This ended up recording Ex-Girlfriend and Magic`s in the Makeup. Finally on April 11, 2000 released Return of Saturn.
