Phil Jordan saw No Doubt at the Palace in Hollywood a while back before he
played with them and he was so turned on to their music, he even told his buddy there with him that he
would love to play in a band like that
About a year later a good friend of his named Rich Marozic (lives down the street from
him to this day) said a band he knew was looking for a horn player so he thought he'd check it out,
it was No Doubt! He was stoked and to make a long story short he went on their very first tour
promoting their first cd self debut titled No Doubt. Then he continued to tour with them up until 1995 and recorded on their last 2 cd's Tragic Kingdom and The Beacon Street Collection. They also made some 45's too...( Doghouse/You Can't Teach An Ol' Dog NewTricks, Squeal/My Room Is Still Clean ) and a lot of other stuff. The first gig that he did with the band was at the Belly Up in San Diego, first gig of the first tour. Phil still remember Adrian teaching him the "Squeal" horn parts in the back stage band area. He was pretty nervous. His early influences was "The Beatles, Queen, Miles Davis (trumpet player), English Beat, Elvis Costello, ABC, David Bowie and the late Beatles stuff. His favorite song of the Tragic Kingdom album is Hey You. He also likes the song "Just A Girl". He loved playing The Climb. One of his favorite songs also, the horns on that song are so full it and reminds him of an orchestra... a rock orchestra. The reasons why Phil did quit were that he had a new born girl that he wanted to raise and he love her more than anything in life. No trip to Japan could ever keep him away from her. Her name is Megan. He also wanted to be part of the band (would never happen with No Doubt). He didn't want to be just a hired horn, he wanted to be his own man, be in a band and be able to say: -I was completely a part of it. Another reason was that he wanted to finish school at CSU Long Beach. He also have a BM in Commercial Music. His only regrets about leaving the band are that he never went out of North America with the band. He wanted to go to London, Germany, Japan etc. But he did quit the tour too soon."
