NO DOUBT News Update

Secret acoustic show yesterday in Paris
There was supposed to be a showcase in Paris yesterday evening, but the showcase was cancelled due to the reason that they didn't find a venue that was appropriate. The only one they found was a venue that was 9 feet deep, and that would fit nothing but Adrians drum riser. However, the scheduled release party was held yesterday at the VIP Club in Paris.

Mainly media, and industry people attended this, and so did our french representative Gregory. The doors opened up at 11pm. The place was totally crowded, and No Doubt videos was being played on TV screens. The band was eating in the VIP lounge, when the doors opened. And then all of sudden, the band played an acoustic set for everyone in attendance. The band said that it wasn't planned, and here is the setlist:

Spiderwebs
Underneath it all
Just A Girl
Don't Let Me Down
Don't Speak
Hey Baby

This was the first time ever they had played an acoustic version of Hey Baby. The party around 4am. A full review of the show can now be found on this website.

Earlier this week (January 23), RAC and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, AFL-CIO (AFTRA) and American Federation of Musicians (AFM) members converged on Sacramento calling on legislators to support Senate Bill 1246 (Murray), legislation to repeal California Labor Code Section 2855, subdivision B, because it unfairly excludes recording artists from the same protection of law afforded all other working persons in California who sign a personal services contract.

They came together to repeal the amendment to the state's "seven-year" statute which amendment exempts musicians from the seven-year limit on entertainment contracts.  RAC, AFTRA and AFM members--including Don Henley, Carole King, John Fogerty, Beck, Stevie Nicks, Ray Parker, Jr., Sheryl Crow, the Deftones, Paul Doucette (Matchbox Twenty), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Dexter Holland (Offspring) and Paul Almeida, President of the Department for Professional Employees of the AFL-CIO; John Connolly, President AFTRA; and John Russum, Executive Director AFTRA LA--met with legislators to discuss their support of SB 1246(Murray).  Joining them were Dick Gabriel, National Assistant to the President of American Federation of Musicians; representatives of the Hollywood Entertainment Labor Council; Tom Rankin, President, California Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO; Art Pulaski, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the California Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO; and Miguel Contreras, President, Los Angeles County Labor Federation.

RAC represents the economic and creative interests of featured recording artists whose interests are not always directly represented by other organizations or the recording industry.  In the past, RAC members have successfully testified before congress to repeal "work for hire" copyright legislation which was detrimental to recording artists.

Forthcoming Singles from Rock Steady
It seems from some early promo material, that the forthcoming singles to emerge from Rock Steady will most likely be:

Hey Baby (already out)
Making Out
Underneath It All
Don't Let Me Down (Acoustic) - Unconfirmed

Speculation, is that Don't Let Me Down, on a single may actually be an accoustic version - per say, it may be similar to some versions of Don't Speak from Tragic Kingdom...
