Nemone (the dj): In the live lounge today, we welcome No Doubt! Hello guys! (applause and cheering) n: They are there! They've been warming up for a while. How are you, alright? gwen: We're fantastic... n: Okay, you better explain... (laughter) n: Okay, we'd better explain whose in there, because there's more than one of you. Gwen: Okay, um, lets see... n: Who have you got? Gwen: We got the whole band in here, we got Tom Dumont on guitar, we got tony Kanal on bass, Gabrial McNair on keyboards and vocals, Adrian Young on percussion and Stephen Bradley is in the house as well and he's doing some singing and some percussion. n: There's lots of you...and of course Gwen Stefani. Gwen: And that would be me! n: Yes! Thats the person thats already talking. How are you all feeling because I know yourself, you've not been well recently? Gwen: You know what? I was sick on the tour in America.. but that was like a month ago and now I feel really good n: You feel much better...? Gwen: Yeah, it's fun to be back in England again. n: Cool..Now the last time we spoke to you, you hadn't released Hey Baby, it's been a massive massive hit over here.. were you expecting anything like that? Gwen: Um..gosh, I mean it really is.. we wrote this record purely from our hearts, just for fun, and it was the funnest and easiest album we've ever made and having it just be successful has just been a blast. It really has been really fun. It..it seems like of course it would be, because we had so much fun making the record that if people didn't like it, it would have seemed weird... n: You'd be like Oh...ok..? Gwen: Does that suck up? n: No..I think thats ok... Gwen: It's called being, um, confident in what you do I guess, but in America.... n: Enjoying what you're doing? Gwen: Over here people get really bummed out if you're too confident, huh? n: I don't think....well, a little bit sometimes, but I don't think thats confidence, I think thats enjoying what you like to do. Gwen: We just had a really fun time making it, really fun songs and if they offend you then I would be surprised, cause it's just for fun, you know? n: Just you guys having a giggle... Now you say you're enjoying being back in the UK and you've obviously mentioned the American tour... are you a bit knackered or are you guys still enjoying the ride? gwen: We just did forty shows over there... n: Wow.. gwen: and the thing that was really kinda special about it was that they were really intimate.. we were playing from anywhere from... what where the sizes? It was like anywhere from two thousand to five thousand people so it was really sweaty and it was really hot and fun and yeah it was good, it was a really good tour. n: And when you get into the live performance do you really jump around as well? gwen: Yeah! It was definitely.... it was definitely um, everybody, everybody was exhausted at the end of it but it was a really really good time. n: Talking of gigs... are you really going to be supporting the Rolling Stones? gwen: We get to do.. so far we have one date confirmed for real...um, no, three dates confirmed.... n: Three? Ok, they're going up already. gwen: Yeah! It's pretty wild, it doesn't seem real right now, but when we're in the stadium doing it, I guess the challenge will be there... n: And you're looking forward to it? gwen: Yeah, it's going to be cool! n: Now Gwen, is Gavin aware of the effect that Mick Jagger has on attractive young ladies? gwen: Oh...I wasn't aware of it.... (laughter) n: Oh, you must be! gwen: No...what are you talking about? n: I don't know, he tends to attract them... gwen: Oh really? n: Or be attracted to them.... gwen: Ohh, interesting. n: So wait, and find out. gwen: Yeah, no, it's going to be fun though, I think that it's going to be interesting to play for so many people that are... it's definitely going to be a different audience for us, so thats going to be deffo good...wooooo scary... n: And do you get to take Gavin on tour with you? Does he come with you or does he stay well away? gwen: Um, I was just on tour with him, just at the festivals, over the last couple of days which was really fun, but yeah, hopefully he will be coming out; by the time we are on the next tour, we'll probably be married... n: I know! so the wedding plans are going alright? gwen: Yeah, it's going good. n: Cool, good... are you going to do it here or in the States? gwen: We're going to do it over here. n: Excellent, UK wedding... gwen: Yeah... n: We like to hear that. Alright then, well we'll get down to some live music.... gwen: Oh yeah, they wanted me to let you guys know that we're playing Brixton Academy in June which we're really excited about because playing live is what we love to do and we haven't got to play over here that much. n: Okay! Well we look forward to that and we're going to hear you live now. gwen: Yeah! Here we go... *Hella Good Acoustic* (applause and cheering) n: You can tell when it's a good live lounge performance, people looking forward to it; the studio here, this end is completely full of people just having a watch... gwen: Alright! n: And it is Tony or Tom with the guitar face? Proper guitar face... gwen: That'll be Tom Dumont. n: I think it's Tom. Definitely worth a chance if you get to see them live when they come to the UK, No Doubt, thank you very very much. That was the new single, Hella Good. And it's out on the third of June. |
