What happend after their U.K. tour ???

Mike Ciorlieri leaving the Assorted Jelly Beans
As I mentioned earlier, I became an instant fan of this band as I saw them open up for The Vandals during their U.K. tour, August 1998. This tour featured Adrian Young of No Doubt as The Vandals temporary drummer.

I decided to get in touch with the beans during my recent visit to America in March 1999. But when I got there, I found out the band was on tour during that particular time. But since they had a few days off before their shows in Denver and Salt Lake City I figured that they might be at their homes in CA. So, I tried to call Mike Ciorlieri(the drummer that replaced their original drummer Ricky Falomir). What I didn't know by this time was that Mike was no longer a member of the Assorted Jelly Beans.

Anyway, I finally got in touch with Mike and he was kinda surprised to hear that I was spending some time in California. We talked for a while, then we decided to meet up the following day. He also told me that he was no longer a member of the band, and that they had brought their old drummer back.

What happend was that after they have returned from the UK tour in August '98, they started a tour with blink 182. A tour that took them all across the states, and that was according Mike the best tour he ever been on. They also started to make up some plans for the shows in Australia, later on the same year. Mike was really exited about that. Anyway, Mike played at each and every show during the US tour with Blink. With only one gig left on the tour, they spent a day at their homes in California. The last show was going to take place in San Diego.

All his friends had been taking holidays, booked their plan tickets and everything to get ready to go to San Diego the following day to see Mike perform with the Beans, and hang out with him after the show.

During the evening the day before the show would take place, he was at his home packing his stuff to get ready for the following day. Then he recieved a phonecall. It was Ricky, and Wylie. They told him that he was no longer a member of the group, because they had decided to bring their old drummer Ricky Falomir back. Ricky would be the one playing at the last show in San Diego, but they told him that he could still come and hang out if he wanted to.

Mike and his friends decided not to go, and according to Mr.Ciorlieri himself he haven't been talking to them since then. To put it in a few words, I guess you could say that he got very depressed for a very long time after this thing happend. But he got over it.

Mike Ciorlieris new band rehearsing at the band house, March 2nd 1999.

Today Mike Ciorlieri is currently playing in a new band, when he is not working. The band is made up by his friends , and they usually rehearse at their bandhouse in Glendora, where all of them also lives. I had the opportunity to come and see them when they rehearsed. The band sounded great. They had a bunch of their own songs, and also played some covers. I can recall them doing "Anuerysm" by Nirvana. They did it very good, and I was kinda impressed. Hope they will get the record deal they deserve pretty soon. After they rehearsed I hung out with them for a while drinking some beers, and yeah.. had a great time.

I would like to end this story by thanking Mike, his family, and all his friends in Glendora for inviting me, and wishing them all the best luck in the future. I'll make sure to drop by next time around. Will be great fun to meet you all again. And Mike.. hope you like the "Tragic Kingdom Magazine" issue that featured you in it.

Ps. And don't forget to send me your new record when it's out. By the way, I talked with Nina(Adrians girlfriend) and she said that she didn't know about that the Assorted Jelly Beans had let you go.
